Martin
is about
to
embark
on a
bike
ride
from
Newcastle
to the
Eden
Project
in the
deep,
deep
south.
On the
way, he
will be
gigging
at small
venues
en
route.
These
will be
intimate
solo
gigs and
a
fantastic
opportunity
to see
the guy
close
up.
There is
a gig at
the Buck
Hotel,
Reeth on
Sunday
22nd
August
which is
worth
checking
out.
Before
you
think
that's a
million
miles
away,
think
again.
Although
Reeth is
in
Swaledale,
North
Yorkshire
it is
only
about 75
minutes
by car
from
Newcastle,
less
from
Sunderland
and
Durham.
It's a
very
picturesque
place
and well
worth
considering.

Martin
Harley
Martin is a mesmerising solo performer in a
contemporary blues, Americana genre. A
troubadour in the truest sense of the word,
Martin went traveling in his early 20’s armed
with a cheap guitar and hasn’t strayed too far
from that path ever since. On the other hand,
his prowess as a guitarist and in particular
the unusual weissenborn style of lap slide work
that he has mastered, has won an army of fans
around the world.
From humble beginnings living
in a car and playing remote bars in Australia,
Martin built his own audience and opened doors
at every turn. Since November 2008 Martin has
opened most UK shows for Brit Award winner James
Morrison and some in mainland Europe. His
dynamite shows with his band on Glastonbury’s
famous Acoustic and Avalon stages this summer
earned a listing in the Virtual Festivals “top
ten best of the rest” review of gigs outside of
the Pyramid stage.
Last Autumn Martin and his band went into the
studio to record their next album for
release this April, under the watchful eye of
producer Nigel Stonier (Thea Gilmore). With the new album, major label interest
and another major name tour support in
discussion it looks like Martin Harley’s fan base
is set to keep growing for the foreseeable
future.
“ Actually, I’m a bit
scared to be going on stage after him, he’s an
immense talent”
James
Morrison
