Be prepared to
meet one of the finest blues guitarists in Europe. We
are very, very big fans of Mick Pini who works
hard and always plays out of his skin to deliver a show
that you won't forget. The set will
feature Mick's own excellent work plus plenty of blues
classics which often includes great stuff from Hendrix
and Cream. We can't give too high a recommendation
to this gig!
Mick Pini
has played
in this region for some time now and over the past
couple of years his gigs have sold out. So they should!
Fantastic, fabulous, sublime, mind boggling and any
other superlatives in the book will do to describe
Mick's playing. This really is blues guitar heaven with
Mick playing as sweetly as you would expect from any top
class musician.
Having promoted
Mick Pini on several occasions, we can rightly confirm that he is an
outstanding guitarist and one of the best you will ever see. Mick Pini
is inventive, versatile, dynamic and in a class of his own. No copy-cat
parrot of a guitarist trying to sound like
Peter Green or
Eric Clapton,
Mick Pini is the real thing. He can be a bit wild, or so soft your toes
will curl double, but importantly he gives 100% commitment - extremely
refreshing.
What
the experts say about the Mick Pini Band .....
As
well as touring Europe with
B.B. King and
supporting such blues greats as
Buddy Guy
and
Jimmy Rogers:
Mick Pini has earned himself a strong following across Europe. Eric
Clapton described him in 1996 as ‘The legitimate successor to Peter
Green’.
However, Mick Pini is unquestionably a unique talent in his own right.
His authentic voice and outstanding guitar work personifies the blues in
an inimitable way. Mick has toured the world for over 30 years and has
never had a day job. He lives, breathes, plays and sings the blues with
genuine passion …. even his 1954 Fender Stratocaster smokes!
1997 saw The Mick Pini Band really gain great recognition in Europe,
taking in tours through Austria, Switzerland and Mick’s new home,
Germany. It was here that the album ‘Ain’t
no Foolin’
was produced. The album contains 6 studio and 6 live tracks.
Anyone familiar with the band’s electric live performances will be only
too aware of the awesome power, groove and feel of this band.
1998 saw the band touring more extensively than ever. The year began
with an enormously successful five week European tour during which the
band won the prestigious ‘Blues
Band of the Month’
award at ‘Talkin Blues’ in Cologne. In January 1999 the band recorded
their definitive album ‘Blues
Gonna Be My Way’.
It sees the most welcome return of
Mike Vernon
as producer. Mike produced Mick’s ‘Wildman’
album in 1989 featuring
A.B. Burns, Chris Youlden
and
Paul Jones.
