Three
brilliant young musician, one fabulous gig!
It's a question often asked by
long-time blues fans. Who will carry the torch
when today's elder statesmen are gone? Who's
going to follow in the footsteps of the B.B.
Kings and Koko Taylors, the Buddy Guys and Eric
Claptons?
For years, Ruf Records has been introducing
blues lovers to talented newcomers from around
the world. The Blues Caravan Tour 2006 presents
three of the brightest young stars on the
horizon: Aynsley Lister, Erja Lyytinen and Ian
Parker!
Despite their collective youth, they are
proven professionals who will hit the road with
enthusiasm, dedication – and a brand new
recording. New faces. New sounds. The Blues Caravan
Aynsley Lister
Twenty-something
Aynsley Lister is already a favorite in his
native England and the rest of Europe. "There's
no young English blues guitarist with more vivid
musical ideas" raved MOJO magazine.
Aynsley is without doubt a bright new star on
the current blues scene. A fine singer and a
great guitarist. He has youth, a great voice,
good looks and outrageous amounts of talent on
his side. He may not be older than his late-20s,
but he has been playing for more than ten years
and in that time has played with and supported
exactly the sort of people from whom he could
learn many things, like Buddy Guy, Bernard
Allison or Walter Trout. "British
blues-rock at its best!" (British Blues
Connection)
Aynsley knows the blues doesn't have to be
about heartbreak and pain, or follow a familiar
formula. In the hands of this handsome young
lad, the music is fresh, vibrant and fun.
Erja
Lyytinen
No doubt about it: Erja Lyytinen has the
talent and looks to put Finland on the
international blues map. Born into a musical
family in the small town of Kuopio, she
integrates jazz, folk and even pop elements into
her bluesy mix.
Lyytinen's outstanding slide guitar playing
has earned her the nickname "the
Bonnie Raitt of Finland" and led
to festival appearances alongside Koko Taylor,
Marcia Ball and Bonnie Raitt herself. Now, this
impressive young lady is poised to break out to
an even bigger audience.
Ian Parker
Lister's pal Ian Parker is further
proof that the blues is alive and well in the
new millennium. Parker's forte is his uniquely
personal, poetic songwriting style. His 2003
debut CD, was hailed universally for its
originality and emotional power. Or, as veteran
bluesman Walter Trout put it: "Ian's
voice, feel and guitar technique are what his
contemporaries can only dream of." The
29-year-old has spent years developing his
skills on the European Blues-Rock circuit and is
now on the cusp of a great career.
In an industry saturated with manufactured
pop sensations and tribute bands, Ian aims to
appeal to audiences free of demographic
boundaries by simply being himself - a young,
talented musician and writer, with an
overwhelming desire to express through energetic
live performances and masterful recordings.
"Music is the only outlet I have to express
all that is inside - without it I would be truly
lost." (Ian Parker)
