Check out the gig reviewed at
As we were driving home from the gig we were
listening to Paddy McDee on Radio Newcastle. A
couple of guys phoned into the show and said
they too were on their way home. Paddy asked
them about the gig, "Anyone who is
listening to this and thought about going to the
gig, but didn't should be kicking themselves.
John Wetton and Geoff Downes were incredible. It
was an amazing show, there they were right in
front of us, playing for us, absolutely
fantastic" was the reply.
That just about sums it up .... an absolutely
fantastic gig, with the Buggles thrown in for
good measure!
John
Wetton is one of the greatest bass
players in the world! CannyGigs has booked John
over many years and he still ranks in the top
five of best ever gigs. Geoff Downes is an
outstanding keyboard player and musician. We
would need several pages to give you the full
biog, but we will let you go to their web site
for all that stuff. Together, they have just
released a fabulous new album, ICON
and of course are out on tour to do some
promotion and play live for you. This will be an
incredible rock show!
Some very brief guff on the
lads .....
Initially John came to
prominence in the late sixties. London was a
cauldron of creative activity that gave birth to
the "progressive" rock scene of which
John was and has remained an integral force. His
first band was the fondly remembered Mogul Trash
from which he left to join the cult band Family.
In the 70's he joined a Who's Who of bands
including King Crimson, Roxy Music and Asia
which also featured Geoff Downes on
keyboards.
Geoff
Downes also came up through the ranks
including the Tina Charles Band and
working with Trevor Horn on many high
profile projects from hit disco singles to
commercial jingles and The Buggles. In
1980 he replaced Rick Wakeman in YES. His
friendship with Steve Howe led to the formation
of Asia, a band he has continued to work with.
Wetton and Downes are back and have produced an
album Icon which is due for
release in April. Outstanding musicianship,
outstanding rock
