Legendary guitarist Snowy
White returns to the Northeast with a mood changing
mix of
rhythms and blues. It will be fantastic to see
him again with his new Blues
Project Band after extensive touring with Roger
Waters.
Following the
hugely acclaimed 2 year world tour of
Dark Side of the Moon
with Roger Waters which finished in 2007,
Snowy began a rediscovery
of his blues roots and together with long term
collaborator Juan Van Emmerloot
on drums, Matt Taylor
as a perfect guitar foil and Ruud
Weber Jr. on bass, commenced the recordings which
turned into the current Snowy
White Blues Project and produced the album 'In
Our Time of Living'. All three front men
share lead vocals and the band has a new dynamic, from
the raunchy 'Can't Get Enough of the Blues' to
the subtle picking acoustic guitar swing of the classic
Skip James song 'I'm So Glad' borrowing from the
original idiom. All that and a neat segue into 'Bird
of Paradise' in the mid-set semi-acoustic section!
Remaining faithful to the same Gibson Les Paul
guitar for 40 years, Snowy has become known for his
own style of 'English Blues' - a combination of
clear, clean blues phrases and harder-edged
riffs that are a recognisable feature of his
very personal songs.
It was after a long absence that
Snowy marked his return to
UK touring with his own band in 2005. This was marked by
the release of the excellent
album The
Way It Is, which
included a new
recording of his1983 hit single
Bird
Of Paradise featuring
Who
keyboardist John 'Rabbit' Bundrick. It
also covered good friend Peter Green's
classic track, Black Magic Woman.
This British born guitarist has toured
extensively with
Pink Floyd promoting both the Animals
and The Wall albums, performing 'Comfortably
Numb' on top
of a specially created 80 foot wall in
front of 350,000 people in Berlin. He also
recorded two albums with Thin Lizzy, 'Chinatown'
and 'Renegade'.
Snowy
is joined by
Matt Taylor on guitar and
vocals, Juan Van Emmerloot
on drums and Ruud Weber Jnr
plays bass and great vocals. Check out some of the
samples, live and from the album on
www.myspace.com/snowywhitebluesproject
The show will include songs from the new album plus some old favourites and blues classics.
Snowy likes to
mix the sounds so there is a good blend of
upbeat numbers alongside those gut twisting
guitar songs. Put this together with
Snowy's determination never to play exactly the
same set twice and it promises to be a very
entertaining evening!
