Legendary guitarist Snowy
White returns to the Northeast with a mood changing
mix of
rhythms and blues. Snowy marked his return to
touring the UK in 2005with his highly acclaimed
album The
Way It Is, which was recorded with his band The
White Flames and
includes a new
recording of his1983 hit single Bird
Of Paradise, featuring Who
keyboardist John 'Rabbit' Bundrick. It
also covers good friend Peter Green's
classic track, Black Magic Woman.
Remaining faithful to the same Gibson Les Paul
guitar for 37 years, Snowy has become known for his
own style of 'English Blues' - a combination of
clear, clean blues phrases and harder-edged
riffs that are a recognisable feature of his
very personal songs.
The British born guitarist has toured
extensively with
Pink Floyd promoting both the Animals
and The Wall albums - he performed 'Comfortably
Numb' on top
of a specially created 80 foot wall in
front of 350,000 people in Berlin. He also
recorded two albums with Thin Lizzy, 'Chinatown'
and 'Renegade'.
Snowy
is joined in the White Flames by his regular band members Richard
Bailey, (drums/percussion) Walter
Latupeirissa,
(bass) and former Jeff Beck Group member Max
Middleton (keyboards).
The show will include his
excellent Bird of Paradise
along with other songs from the new album plus some old
favourites and blues classics. Snowy likes to
mix the sounds so there is a good blend of
upbeat numbers alongside those gut twisting
guitar songs. Put this together with
Snowy's determination never to play exactly the
same set twice and it promises to be another very
interesting evening!
