Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash
Life Begins Tour
There are only a few British rock
band sounds that have stood the test of time.
Celebrating your 40th birthday is a
big occasion and so it was for
Wishbone Ash
co-founder, Martin Turner
in 2009. With that milestone under
his belt, he looks at 2010 with optimism and
March sees the start of a major UK tour, which
he has titled “Life Begins”.

We asked Martin about the new
tour, “As we enter a new period of touring for
the band, we have introduced some different
oldies into the live show, but I am sure the set
will develop even further as the touring
progresses. Compiling a show from a catalogue as
extensive as Wishbone
Ash’s is never easy and it’s
important to get the balance right,” said
Turner.
“Naturally our most ardent fans
are keen to hear some of the songs that we have
not played with this band yet. At the same time
we also have to please those who may not be so
familiar with the wider catalogue and the
material within it. It is vital that we cater
for both elements of the fan base and, on that
note, we will be continuing to include a
sprinkling of Argus songs in the set. I’m
pleased to say, I’m not “Argussed-out”
yet!!! Argus has been good to us. It remains
Wishbone Ash’s
most critically and commercially revered studio
album, people still want to hear it and my band
are as qualified as any to reproduce it. So,
let’s continue to celebrate its success! “ he
continued.
Turner was one of the founder
members of the original band in 1969, wrote many
of their songs and was the main singer.
Wishbone Ash
achieved a high degree of success both in
Europe and America and the brand has continued
to maintain a high profile across the world. The
big split with Turner came in 1980 when it was
decided to recruit a new singer and front man to
pursue a hit single. This was Turner’s job so he
wasn’t too pleased and quit.
With a period playing solo gigs,
Turner decided to return to the
Wishbone Ash
format in 2005. A move welcomed by his
fans.
So you lovers of true British
rock, its twin-lead guitar heaven at the Cluny
